Deaf swimmers query

John Hay, of Wolverhampton, is researching a booklet to mark the 175th anniversary of Deaf Action, the world's first charity to support deaf people.

He writes: "I came across the names of four Edinburgh-based swimmers who participated in representing Great Britain in the International Games for the Deaf in London between 17 and 24 August 1935 – John Cumming, Charlie Grant, Adam King and James McIntyre. Grant won two silvers for 400m freestyle and 1500m freestyle.

"I would welcome any photos or handed-down accounts or additional information from your readers who are descendants of the above mentioned deaf sportsmen or those who personally knew them. They may email me on [email protected]."
