TV choir wins Classical Brits

TV CHOIR Only Men Aloud beat teenage Britain's Got Talent star Faryl Smith and the Pope to land the album of the year prize at the Classical Brits last night.

The all-male group, which won the show Last Choir Standing, took the prize with their Band Of Brothers release.

Soprano Angela Gheorghiu picked up her second title at the annual bash – held at London's Royal Albert Hall – by landing the best female artist prize. She last won in 2001.

Only Men Aloud were up against Smith, Rhydian Roberts, the Priests and Pope Benedict XVI – whose voice appeared on Alma Mater: Music From The Vatican.
