Landmark Glasgow city-centre office development 200 Broomielaw officially launches to market after major revamp

Landmark Glasgow high-end office development 200 Broomielaw has been officially launched to the market following an extensive revamp to create what is claimed to be one of the city’s greenest buildings.

Property investment firm AM Alpha says its multi-million-pound refurbishment project has resulted in 80,000 square feet of Grade A office space over nine levels. All floors and common areas have been upgraded, with the city-centre building fully electric from 100 per cent renewable sources, for example. There is also a wellness suite with yoga studio.

The scheme was designed by Michael Laird Architects and built by contractor by Clark Contracts, while it is being marketed by joint letting agents JLL and Glasgow’s Adapt Commercial Property. Alex Mackay from JLL said: “200 Broomielaw is one of Glasgow’s greenest buildings, helping occupiers to benefit from lower running costs and meet future sustainability targets. There is a real buzz to the area along the riverfront and as businesses continue to return to the office, we have seen an increase in demand from occupiers seeking high-quality space which they can use to encourage their staff back to the office – 200 Broomielaw certainly meets those requirements.”

Meanwhile, Aberdeenshire-headquartered Acumen Financial Planning has grown its presence in the west of Scotland by opening a new office in Glasgow. The team, made up of 12 financial planning experts, has made the move to the West End location from the southside of the city following “significant” growth throughout the company’s divisions. The firm has been present in Glasgow since 2017 with the acquisition of Forty-Two Financial Planning.

The Glasgow division will be headed up by regional manager Laura Crowe, a chartered financial planner with more than 20 years’ experience in finance. She will be supported in leading the Acumen team by chartered financial planner Tom Hyslop, paraplanners Amanda McLardie, Madailein Alexander, and Steven Hurley; training and competence supervisor Pauline McKinley; and client relationship manager Melanie Shields. Ms Crowe will also oversee the management of the group’s most recent acquisition, and it bought wealth-management practice Loch Fyne Financial in 2021.

Ms Crowe said: “The new office opening, acquisitions, and appointments highlight a significant and exciting time for the business. We are finding more than ever in recent years, that after the pandemic, face-to-face advice is appreciated more than ever.”
