Eat Out to Help Out: List of Scottish restaurants signed up to 50% off scheme now available

The discount scheme will launch on August 3, 2020.

Scots can now seek out restaurants participating in the UK government’s “Eat Out to Help Out” scheme next month.

A searchable database of restaurants is now live, allowing the public to find places to eat within a five mile radius of their postcode.

So far more than 32,000 establishments across the UK have signed up to the scheme.

The government-backed discount, announced last month, aims to help boost the hospitality industry as lockdown restrictions are relaxed.

Customers who dine out on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in August will get a 50 per cent discount worth up to £10 per head.

There is no limit to the number of times you can use the scheme throughout August, although alcoholic drinks and service charges cannot be claimed as part of the discount.

It will also only apply to meals eaten in restaurants, meaning takeaways will still be charged at full price.

Announcing the scheme, Mr Sunak called it “unique”, and said it “has never been tried in the UK before.

"To get customers back into restaurants, cafes and pubs, and protect the 1.8 million people who work in them,” Mr Sunak said, “I can announce today that, for the month of August, we will give everyone in the country an Eat Out to Help Out discount.

“Meals eaten at any participating business will be 50 per cent off up to a maximum discount of £10 per head for everyone, including children.”
