800 pictures sent to fill up photo book

THE makers of a photo book of Edinburgh have received 800 photos from amateur photographers across the Capital.

The Edinburgh Book is being put together by Scott Liddell and David Loudon of Edinburgh-based the Photo Project.

Grant Ritchie, 39, from Stenhouse, is among the contributors after finding the project through the website Flickr.

The web manager has always been interested in photography but, like many of the contributors, has seldom seen his work published.

He said: "I've put a lot of time and effort into it. It's become almost an obsession over the last year."

A portion of the proceeds will go to the Edinburgh Sick Kids Friends Foundation.

Last summer, Mr Ritchie's 13 year old son, Ryan, broke his wrist and the family were impressed by the treatment he received.

David Loudon, an executive of the Berwickshire Housing Association by day and editor of the Edinburgh Book by night said his seven-month-old son was admitted to the Sick Kids Hospital with a viral disease and he is still grateful for their support.
