Proposed Borders rail route hit by bidder blow

But First Minister Alex Salmond insisted the rail link from Edinburgh to Galashiels would go ahead.
German X Factor comes to Lothians
The German version of the X Factor is to use Lennoxlove House in Haddington, East Lothian as a base for its over-25s competitors. The German jazz star Till Bronner, who is a judge on the series, is reported to be flying into the country on Tuesday for a four-day at the house, home to the 16th Duke of Hamilton.
