COALITION talks between the Tories and Liberal Democrats resumed today amid warnings from the grassroots of both parties against giving too much ground.

The two sides have stressed the economy and moves to reduce the deficit will be at the heart of any deal. But Tory resistance to Lib Dem demands for electoral reform remains a stumbling block.

And senior Scottish Lib Dems fear any deal with the Tories could lead to a backlash against the party here.

OVER The Rainbow contestant Jenny Douglas today said still dreamed of West End stardom despite being eliminated from the reality show.

The 18-year-old singer promised she would "never give up" on becoming a stage star.

Jenny returned to her parents' home last night after becoming the sixth person to be voted off the show.

Boyle puts up fences

SINGING sensation Susan Boyle is to swap her childhood home for a new state-of-the-art intruder-proof pad.

Ms Boyle, who shot to fame after wowing television talent show audiences, bought the luxury 300,000 house near her old home in Blackburn, West Lothian, two months ago.

Her architects have now applied for planning permission to install security fences, electric gates, CCTV and a burglar alarm.

The singer finally decided to move out of her childhood home after being confronted by an intruder in January.

Seized gangsters' cash to pay for rehab teens

DRUG or alcohol-addicted teenagers, or those at risk of offending, are to be given rehabilitation support using cash seized from gangsters.

The Scottish Government's 1.6 million Junction project means that teens aged between 14 and 17 in Edinburgh will be offered support, training and outdoor adventures.
