A1 lane to remain shut

A LANE on a three-kilometre stretch of the main route from the Borders into Edinburgh is to remain closed until the end of next week.

Work improving the stretch of the A1 from the Innerwick turn-off, near Dunbar, southwards will continue until November 5.

Local residents say the traffic management restrictions, which have been lifted at weekends, have been causing considerable delays for rush-hour commuters into Edinburgh.

A spokeswoman for BEAR Scotland, which is carrying out the work, said: "Works are currently being undertaken to enhance the safety barriers at various locations on the 3km stretch of the A1."
