Boxer's plea for Pakistan flood victims

As DONATIONS from Britons to help victims of the Pakistan floods reached £7 million yesterday, boxer Amir Khan urged the public to give more money.

The Disasters Emergency Committee said much more was needed to help the 14 million people affected.

Aid has been distributed to 545,000 affected people by the DEC's member agencies and floods have destroyed villages, crops and infrastructure and damaged 290,000 homes. A total of 1,600 people have died.

Amir Khan, 23, whose family comes from Pakistan, said: "These people have lost their homes, their livestock - they've lost everything."
