Cameras' return welcomed

CCTV cameras have been re-installed at the foot of Leith Walk after being removed during tramworks.

The move was welcomed by Leith councillor Gordon Munro, who said he hoped it would help banish drinking and drug dealing from the area.

"I have been requesting for all of this year that the CCTV be back and functioning. This is a key to getting rid of the ne'er-do-wells that frequent the Foot of the Walk. The cameras had been moved because of the tramworks and have been missing for all of this year and it's resulted in there being a group of drinkers as well as open drug dealing there."
