Close shave at level crossing

A BMW crashed through the barriers at a notorious level crossing just seconds after a train had passed.

A 41-year old man from Edinburgh has been charged after his car careered through the barriers at Kingsknowe level crossing shortly after 1pm on Monday, closing the road and causing two trains to be cancelled.

It comes just a month after a bus travelling slowly through the crossing got wedged beneath the same barrier.
