Comedians' dishes will be no joke

COMEDIANS Stephen K Amos, Brendon Burns, Jon Richardson and Tim Vine are set to cook their favourite dishes live on stage during the annual Foodies Festival being held in Holyrood Park.

Other performers appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe who have agreed to take to the kitchen at the event's Chefs Theatre include Abi Titmuss and Caroline Rhea, one of the stars of the US TV show, Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Food lovers can also take a break from shopping and sampling to enjoy live entertainment from performers, including Circus Burlesque, Soweto Gospel Choir, Les Bof! and Vive La Cabaret.

The event also features hands-on food and drink masterclasses with more than 100 exhibitors showcasing local, seasonal produce and speciality food and drink.

Local restaurants are set to serve taster portions of signature dishes with city bars serving cocktails.

Sue Hitchen, Foodies director, said: "Each Foodies Festival event is a great opportunity to celebrate local culinary and restaurant talent and a commitment to fresh, seasonal and local produce."

Now in its fourth year, the Foodies Festival in Edinburgh is set to run between August 13 and 15.
