Crews tackle building fire

FIREFIGHTERS battled a blaze at the Old Mansion House in Dalkeith last night.

The building in Newmills Road, which was being renovated, was reported to be on fire just before 9pm.

The fire was in the roof space on the second floor and was breaking through the roof when 37 firefighters arrived to tackle the flames.

They used three jets, a ground monitor and a light portable pump to battle the blaze over a one-hour period. There were no people in the building.
