TWO police officers have been seriously injured in an incident in Dumfries

The two officers, one male and the other female were said by Police Scotland to have received serious injuries during a disturbance in Lochside Road, Dumfries on Wednesday night.

Police are carrying a full investigation into the incident when a 27-year-old man was arrested during what police said was a serious disturbance.

It took place took place outside the Scotmid Store in Lochside Road on the outskirts of Dumfries.

Both officers were taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary in Dumfries about a mile away for treatment. The female officer received a serious facial injury and the male officer a dislocated arm.

A police spokesman said: “At that time a 27 year old man was arrested by police officers, however, the two officers, a male and a female, received serious injuries in the incident.

“Both later attended hospital where the female officer was treated for a serious facial injury and the male officer for a dislocated arm.

“We would ask that anyone who saw this incident call us at Dumfries on the 101 number.”
