Firefighters save vehicles

More than 40 buses and lorries were saved by firefighters after a blaze broke out at an industrial estate.

The fleet was in “close proximity” to the fire which had started at a building at Vale of Leven Industrial Estate, Dumbarton, at at about 4:30am yesterday.

A spokesman for Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Service said: “The strenuous efforts of fire crews finally paid off and the fire was brought under control without any further fire spread, with damage being contained to the original premises.”

A joint investigation has been launched by Strathclyde Police and the fire service to establish the cause of the blaze.
