Glasgow man pictured vacuuming puddle goes viral

A picture taken in Glasgow, showing a man trying to vacuum up a puddle in the city centre, has gone viral, gaining thousands of ‘likes’ from amused viewers online.

The man, who was confronted by Community Support Officers, was attempting to suck up a large puddle on the pavement at Merchant City after heavy rain.

Whether he was just a misguidedly civic-minded chap or just having a bit of fun is unclear, but the officers seemed to be taking an interest in his work regardless.

The picture has become an overnight success online, thanks to the likes of sharing sites like Reddit.

One online commenter, who felt that the community wardens may have been a bit harsh on the mystery street cleaner, said: “If a man wants to spend his day vacuuming puddles, just let him.”

The photo comes after a previous viral picture taken in Aberdeen, which showed a man being freed by firefighters after he somehow managed to get his head stuck in a public bin.
