Go-ahead for care centre

A MENTAL health project will provide specialist care and support for up to ten people in Edinburgh.

The city council and NHS Lothian have given the go-ahead for the new 700,000 facility in the east of the city. It will be run by a new provider, Carr-Gomm, but residents can continue to be treated by their current NHS and social care staff. It will care for people leaving hospital, and help them adjust to life in the community.

Councillor Paul Edie, the city's health and social care convenor, said the new centre would provide a "crucial service".
