Iconic pub to get a facelift

ONE of the city's most recognisable pubs is set to undergo an expansion and facelift.

The Haymarket, one of the first sights visitors see from Haymarket station, is set to be rebranded as a Nicholson's pub although it will retain the iconic Haymarket name.

The bar will be moved from the centre to side of the pub, while a bigger kitchen will facilitate an expanded menu and more dining facilities.

The West Maitland Street door will be blocked, leaving a single entrance, while the facade will undergo minor changes.

The Haymarket is expected to close for around six weeks in October to be refurbished, with the work expected to be finished for Christmas.
