Inmates face knife detectors
PRISONERS are being screened with metal detectors to prevent knife attacks at Addiewell Prison.
Random searches have been introduced at privately-run Addiewell, in West Lothian, to uncover weapons following a spate of stabbings.
Prison bosses have installed the 25,000 detectors, which will also find weapons created in cells.
A memo on the prison noticeboard reportedly stated: "Prisoners will be selected for a search on a purely random basis."
