Killer stick up for auction

AN HISTORIC walking stick used to bludgeon a wealthy explorer to death in 1883 is to go under the hammer in the Capital on Wednesday.

The estimated 400 crutch, which is intricately carved and put up for auction by an anonymous seller, was used by Bedouin tribesmen to murder William Gill in the Sinai desert while he was gathering intelligence for the British government.

The lot will go under offer at Lyon and Turnbull auctioneers on Broughton Place from 10.30am
