Legislative lift for widow ladies' fund

MSPS have agreed to repeal a century-old law that confined a charity to making donations of £25 or less.

The Ure Elder Fund for Indigent Widow Ladies in Glasgow has assets of about 200,000 and an annual income of 11,000. It was established by a Govan shipbuilder's widow to help poor widows advance their education.
