MP visits innovation gong nominee

LIVINGSTON MP Graeme Morrice visited the offices of a Lothians business shortlisted for a prestigious entrepreneur award.

UWI Technology Limited is in the running for The Barclays Take One Small Step competition for its smart label invention, which indicates how long a jar has been open.

Pete Higgins, UWI founder and chief executive, welcomed Mr Morrice to the company's office at Fairmont House at Oakbank in Livingston along with Colin Stanfield and David Bruce from Barclays.

Mr Morrice said: "The tough economic climate means many businesses are facing difficult times, but UWI have shown that West Lothian continues to produce innovative and successful companies even under these adverse circumstances.

The general public has been voting for the winning idea in their region since May and the nine overall winners will be announced today.
