All together now

So Osama Saeed's Scottish Islamic Foundation seeks to promote community harmony (your report, 9 August). A fundamental part of such harmony should be common schooling for all Scots young people, but regrettably Mr Saeed wishes to implement Islamic faith schools, and Alex Salmond agrees with him.

I've been in favour of an independent Scotland for as long as I have been politically and culturally aware, and I'm disappointed Alex holds this view.

We are a' Jock Tamson's bairns, and should have an education system that allows all of our young people to appreciate this basic principle.
