Joyce McMillan may be "thoroughly confused" about "the idea of male aggression and violence" (Review, 9 August), but other readers like me may be wondering why on earth she is awarding four stars to a National Theatre of Scotland offering on the Fringe that appears from their "puff" to glorify boxing in ways described in her own "mess of mixed messages" as "a familiar boxing story" but "underdeveloped" and even "superfluous".

Why, too, is NTS yet again turning to a playwright and "co-producers" based south of the Border for its theatrical clichs?
