Criminal errors

It was with some interest that I read Josie Appleton's article on criminal records vetting (Opinion, 15 March).

However, I was most concerned to find that on more than one occasion within the article she refers to organisations and legislation that are not applicable to Scotland.

For example, she makes reference to the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), when this should be Scottish Criminal Records Office (SCRO); and the UK's new Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) when this organisation and its powers to do not apply to this country.

Although the general concerns she was raising are common to all constituent parts of the UK, I would suggest that it behoves her to be clear about her sources and references.
