National Trust

I welcome the engagement of The Scotsman in the debate on the future of the National Trust for Scotland. It's unfortunate, however, that you chose to headline "job cuts" in yesterday's article.

The thousand or so people so far consulted by the review will have heard plenty about "Byzantine" governance, the need to balance the books, and the trust trying to do too much with too little. There has been no discussion whatsoever about job cuts. Indeed, I am concerned about the current tightness of staffing levels, particularly in the conservation field.
