Oil’s well …

As I watched David Cameron’s eyes glistening at the prospect of another 40 years of Scotland’s oil revenues, I remembered how 40 years ago we were told the oil would last only 15 years.

Jim Sillars famously said: “Scotland must be the only country in the world to discover oil and get poorer.”

With a rich harvest of oil still in its waters, and a referendum on the horizon, Scotland can prove him wrong.
