Talk of the Town: Footballer nets an unusual nickname

ONE of the Capital's greatest-ever footballers Dave Mackay was of course a Tottenham Hotspur legend and would surely have revelled in their victory over AC Milan.

And former Hearts boss Joe Jordan of course played his own part in the famous win from his dugout seat beside manager Harry Redknapp. But how many people know one of their modern day stars earned the unlikely nickname of Musselburgh?

You've heard of singing for your supper. Now Tesco is taking the dramatic step of letting children busk inside its stores.

The supermarket giant has invited schools and clubs in Edinburgh to put together a team of buskers and get creative by singing, dancing or even performing magic tricks to entertain shoppers. But any fears that the cash will go on sweets have been dampened.

Instead of coins, shoppers can donate their unwanted Tesco for Schools and Clubs vouchers to local young performers, which schools can put towards the latest sports equipment.

But now one Edinburgh letting agent is dishing out hoodies to student tenants as part of its tenth anniversary celebrations.

Complete Solutions is giving away the hooded tops, each emblazoned with the year and a street logo, to mark its business milestone.

"We are in part a bit like a fraternity house looking after both the tenant and the landlord, each with differing requirements," a company spokesman said.
