Think again on bridge

With the recent multiple closures of the Forth Road Bridge due to high winds, it is ironic that the Scottish Government has chosen a bridge for the new Forth crossing.

With global warming, the high winds will increase in frequency and severity, which makes the selection bizarre in the modern context.

A tunnel would not be affected by winds and would fit well with a holistic approach which considered the changing environment and the whole life costs over 70 years. I can only guess that the choice was made on short-term issues only.

I am sure the people of Scotland would be best served by a review of this decision which considered the long-term effects predicted. The Scottish Government should show it can change and take the sensible course.
