Tuck shop drop

I don’t understand why Gordon Kennedy (Letters, 18 June) is so up in arms about tuck shops being removed from state schools in England.

I do agree with his point about tuck shops being a useful place where children can learn about money and make their own choices about how they spend it, but that is easy enough to replicate with alternative ventures.

In terms of preventing kids’ access to junk food, though, it’s a pretty lame policy.
