Unsung champs

YOUR "Greatest Scottish Cup shockers" (Sport, 11 April) inexplicably omitted arguably the greatest shock of all, namely Kilmarnock 2 East Fife 4 after extra time in the final played on 27 April 1938. This remains the only occasion to date when a club from outside the highest division has won the Scottish Cup. Part-time East Fife played a total of 11 matches, five of them replays, before lifting the trophy – a monumental achievement.

Ross County may well emulate the feat this season, but I cannot understand how East Fife's achievement can be overlooked. I note that seven of the nine games mentioned featured Rangers or Celtic. Perhaps if East Fife had beaten one of the Old Firm during the Cup run they might have received the recognition due!
