Water charges

In response to the letter from Clark Cross (7 July), our average customer charges are the lowest of any water company in the UK. Our customers have seen their charges remain at the same level for the fourth year in a row at a time when we are delivering one of the biggest investment programmes in the UK water industry, supporting thousands of construction jobs.

The average household charge for water customers of the utility Scottish Water remains at £324 a year for 2012/13, giving increasing value for money to our customers.

Since 2002 we have reduced our operational costs by 40 per cent, offering our customers a total saving of £1 billion. The targets set out for our leadership team are extremely tough and were met through a combination of innovation, efficiency and the dedicated hard work of our employees and delivery partners.
