Peace reigns at Old Trafford

A POLICE operation to prevent clashes between Rangers and Manchester United fans appeared successful last night as the Champions League group tie passed peacefully off the pitch.

Up to 3,500 Rangers fans travelling by coach were put in a holding zone at Wigan Athletic's DW Stadium before the game, then escorted to Old Trafford. Those without tickets were prevented from entering the city.

It is understood there were ten arrests up until the final whistle for offences such as drunk and disorderly, public order and ticket touting.
