Police hunt for knifeman who stabbed pizza delivery driver

POLICE are continuing to hunt a scar-faced man who stabbed a pizza delivery driver in Stockbridge.

The 25-year-old victim was outside the Pizza Hut in Raeburn Place when he was set upon at around 8.40pm on Sunday by a suspect with a prominent scar on the right side of his jaw.

It is understood detectives investigating the attack do not believe the incident was an attempted theft and are treating it as attempted murder.

A Pizza Hut spokesman said the company was "shocked" by the incident, but added that the injuries were not life-threatening.

A resident of the flat above Pizza Hut, said: "I only knew something happened when the police tape was put up. I was told it was a delivery driver who had been stabbed. It's shocking that something like that could happen on a busy street."

The victim's attacker ran off down Dean Park Street while the victim was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment and kept in overnight.

The suspect is described as white, around 27 years old and was between 5ft 7in and 5ft 9in with a medium build. He has short brown hair and bushy eyebrows.

Meanwhile, a 58-year-old man was assaulted while visiting a block of flats in Murrayburn Gardens in Wester Hailes when two men attacked him in the common stair at around 4.30pm on Friday. He suffered facial injuries, and was taken to the ERI for treatment.

The suspects are described as 27 to 35 years old. One is 6ft tall with short light hair. The other has short dark hair, and was wearing a V-neck jumper.
