Police name man found next to river

POLICE have named a man whose body was discovered on a river bank.

Grampian Police yesterday said they believed the body discovered on the bank of the River Deveron near Banff on Wednesday was Norman Choate. The 62-year-old was from the Banff area.

A member of the public reported finding the body, on the south bank of the river, close to Macduff Distillery.

Detectives are investigating the unexplained death and are appealing for information to help them piece together Choate's final movements.
