Queen happy with emblem

THE Queen described the official Diamond Jubilee emblem as "splendid" as she hosted a special royal tea party for Blue Peter competition winners yesterday.

Katherine Dewar, ten, below, drew the overall winning design, featuring a crown poised above a Union Flag with diamonds in columns down either side. The schoolgirl, from Chester, said she was "very excited but a bit nervous" to meet the Queen and happy with the design, which had taken her an hour to complete.

The Queen donned her gold Blue Peter badge for the occasion as she spoke to Katherine and 29 other emblem designers.
