Glasgow bin lorry crash: Truth ‘might have prevented crash’

The Glasgow bin lorry crash might have been avoided if the driver had “told the truth” about his history of blackouts, a fatal accident inquiry has found.

Six people were killed and a further 15 were injured when the council truck veered out of control in the city centre on December 22 last year.

The vehicle travelled along the pavement in Queen Street before crashing into the side of the Millennium Hotel in George Square after driver Harry Clarke blacked out behind the wheel.

SNP ‘could block Scotland Bill’ over cost, warns Swinney

John Swinney has warned that the SNP government could block the Scotland bill over fears that the package on extra devolution would cost Scots £7 billion.

Prankster puts Forth Road Bridge up for sale on eBay

The Forth Road Bridge has been jokingly put up for sale on auction site ebay following Friday’s news that the link between Edinburgh and Fife will be closed for the remainder of the year.

The prankster responsible for the cheeky advert was ebay user nicelgin, who posted the ad in the ‘For parts or not working’ section.

The page includes a photo of the bridge and a product description.

It reads: “Approximately 50 years old. Used daily until midnight last night. Not structurally sound but has exceptional scrap value.

“Buyer to uplift. It will have dismantled itself by auction end.


David Cameron applauds ‘You aint no Muslim bruv’ remark

David Cameron has commended remarks made towards a man arrested for stabbing someone in a London Tube station on Saturday night. As #YouAintNoMuslimBruv began trending on Twitter over the weekend, the Prime Minister today praised the comments, captured on mobile phone footage, during an appearance in Derby.

“Some of us have dedicated speeches and media appearances and soundbites and everything to this subject,” he said. “But ‘you ain’t no Muslim bruv’ said it all much better than I ever could. Thank you because that will be applauded around the country.”
