'Slow task to win hearts and minds' begins

THE new chairman of Edinburgh's tram company has said he is ready to begin the "slow task" of winning "hearts and minds".

Vic Emery was officially confirmed in his 55,000-a-year role at a council meeting yesterday.

Mr Emery, who will chair both tram firm TIE and Transport Edinburgh Limited, said: "I do not underestimate the scale of the task ahead and I am confident that we can reach a positive outcome.

"My own experience will be vital in beginning the slow task of repositioning the project in the hearts and minds of Edinburgh.
