Stage is set for a 60th spectacular

Musselburgh Amateur Musical Association is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a performance of Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun.

The show, at Brunton Theatre, is playing every night at 7.30pm and Saturday night will be the final performance.

The club opened in the autumn of 1950 when a few members of staff at the Musselburgh and Fisherrow Cooperative Society got together to form a company to perform a musical stage show. Their successful meeting led them to recruit interested local residents and they have held an annual performance ever since.

Today Mama has more than 70 acting and non-acting members, with ages ranging from eight to 80-plus. Currently the company performs two shows a year.

Tickets are 11 Monday to Thursday or 12 Friday and Saturday. Concessions are available tonight at 9.
