Student wins damages after car smash

A STUDENT from the Capital who suffered a back injury after being involved in a car crash has been awarded £2050 in damages.

Sara Buxton was driving along the A90 on her way to her part-time job at a supermarket when her car was struck by another vehicle which had crossed lanes.

Ms Buxton, from Leith, was thrown from side to side during the impact, and later needed treatment for lower back pain which lasted for six months.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court also heard that she suffered "travel anxiety" and stress in the wake of the accident, which took place on July 29, 2009.

Sheriff William Holligan ordered insurance firm Direct Line, which had insured the driver of the other vehicle, to pay 2050 in damages to her.
