Teens not protecting themselves from Sun

TOO many Lothians teens are exposing themselves to the Sun without adequate protection, a charity has said.

As part of its annual skin cancer campaign, the Teenage Cancer Trust spoke to young people in the area about how likely they are to apply suncream. The charity has one teenage cancer unit in Edinburgh and is on the verge of building another.

Its chief executive, Simon Davies, said: "It is the Sun damage done to skin when young that can lead to skin cancer in later life, which is why these findings are incredibly worrying.

"We all love the Sun but we have to respect our skin.

"Melanomoa is fast becoming one of the most common cancers in young people so they need to learn how to protect themselves now."
