Public bike hire plan for Glasgow 2014 proposed
The plan for a Mass Automated Cycle Hire (MACH) similar to the ‘Boris Bike’ scheme in London has been put before the council’s Executive committee by the Sustainability and Transport member Alistair Watson.
The report proposes a ‘low technology’ system, making use of mobile phone technology to manage the scheme.

Hide AdThe report proposes an initial roll-out of 150 bikes in time for the Games, with the number increasing to 400 in September 2014. Plans for improvements to cycle lanes from the city centre to the Commonwealth Games venues are also included in the report.
The executive committee will discuss the report at a meeting next Thursday.
