Trooping across hills to train for combat

SOLDIERS from the Penicuik-based 2nd Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland (2 Scots) took to the hills to get in some vital training ahead of their deployment to Afghanistan.

The soldiers are among a 1,000-strong contingent of Scots troops, taking over as Britain's lead presence in the lawless Helmand province.

Ahead of their deployment the 2 Scots, Glencorse Barracks, took part in training to find counter improvised explosive devices (CIED).
