Police appeal over rare violin theft

Detectives hunting for a stolen 18th century violin, one of only a handful in the world, have appealed for help in reuniting the “devastated” owner with the rare instrument.

The violin, which was on loan and is worth more than £140,000, was stolen during a burglary in London last week.

Police said that the instrument would be “very difficult to sell”.
