Woman, 82, injured in bag snatch attempt

AN ELDERLY woman is in hospital with serious injuries after a “despicable attack” by a man who tried to rob her.

The woman, 82, was walking up stairs leading to Knightswood Secondary School in Glasgow when a man tried to pull her bag from her shoulder.

She screamed for help and during the struggle fell against railings. A passer-by pulled the attacker from her.

The woman was treated in hospital and is said to be in a stable condition. Police appealed for information about the incident, which happened at 9.50am on Friday.
