Leader of insurgent group assassinated
ONE of the leaders of a Somalia insurgent group allied to al-Qaeda has been assassinated.
Sheikh Daud Ali Hasan, a commander in Al-Shabaab, was shot dead in the southern city of Kismayu on Friday night.
He had been leading fighting against rival insurgents. It is highly unusual for officials of the feared Al-Shabaab to be assassinated.
The group's chairman, Sheikh Abukar Ali Adan, said several suspects had already been arrested.
