A spokesman for the UK Government’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: “We are aware of the death of a British national in Majorca, Spain, in June 2014. We are providing consular assistance to the family at this sad time.”

The port of Alcudia is known for its shallow water and sandy beaches.

The resort is popular with families, with water parks, go-karts and tourist trains.

Majorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea and attracts up to two million British tourists every year.

Liam and his family were believed to be staying at a Club MAC hotel at the time of Liam’s passing.

The hotel declined to comment.
