Jersey based British yachtsman Phil Sharp, right, and adventurer Sean Conway completed the first Length of Britain sailing challenge, setting a benchmark time for sailing from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

Along with around-the-world yachtsman Alex Alley, the trio left Land’s End on a Class 40 racing yacht at 8:55 am on Friday morning. Sharp is one of only two British skippers to have won a solo Transatlantic race while Conway had already completed the Land’s End to John O’Groats journey three times – running, cycling and swimming.
