Bankier and Blair back with a bang

SCOT Imogen Bankier and her Edinburgh-born English partner, Robert Blair, confirmed they are on their way back to a place in the world's top ten after they knocked out the No.4 seeds to reach today's mixed doubles final at the Yonex German Open.

With Glasgow's 22-year-old Bankier having missed the final seven months of last year due to a serious knee injury, the British pair have slipped to No.74 in the world.

But they underlined their class with a 21-17 21-19 victory over China's Jiaming Tao and Yawen Zhang, who are currently world No.23.

In the final, they will meet Hong Kong's Yuhan Hadikusuma Wiramata and Ying Suet Tse.
