Canadian Chapman, who has a British father, has been starring for Michigan State in the US, helping them through to the NCAA College play-off quarter-finals.
The 20-year-old, an attacking midfielder, is a product of Toronto FC’s academy and also said to be on the radar of Sunderland, Aston Villa and Swansea.
He was a regular fixture in Michigan’s starting line-up last year, and scored the fastest goal of the season after 13 seconds into a 3-0 win over Oakland in October 2013.
Celtic are also said to be renewing their interest in Stuart Armstrong, a previous target for former manager Neil Lennon.
The Dundee United midfielder was watched by John Collins in the Scottish Cup clash with Motherwell on Saturday.
United will be looking to command a fee of around £2 million for the player.
Another who features highly on a list of potential transfer targets is Tranmere’s 21-year-old Max Power.
